What helps you stand up for what you believe in? Taking a stance is a form of a strong belief system. It’s a type of stance that cannot be shaken, even as the earth crumbles in pieces during an earthquake. We as people who live in fear can create our own earthquakes with a lack of faith, past hurts, stubborn ways, negativity, controlling others with money, or attacking others to make ourselves feel better. If you have people in your life like this, it can be challenging to remain standing when they do not want to look at their own behavior to change, or become better people. Some refer to these type of people as toxic— that means to stay away! We all know we cannot change anyone else, and we also know that no matter what anyone else says or does, we know the only thing that can have a negative impact on us is what we think of ourselves. Not what anyone else thinks. After studying self development for years, it is much easier to stand tall with courage. It is much easier to let hurtful words roll off of you, similar to how the soft rain rolls off the leaf in the Spring. If you have a situation where the rain keeps coming, keeps rolling, and continues to drip from the tip of the leaf, then give it to God.
God will pick you up out of your situation, and put you on a firm foundation of trust, truth, forgiveness, and strength. He will put a fire in your heart, and will release the strongholds that try so desperately to keep you down. He will be the anchor of your soul. Put your trust in him, and he will be the flame that will stay lit even during the strong winds of the storm~ Attached Song: Stand from Rascal Flatts.
Matthew 7:24-27New Living Translation (NLT)
Building on a Solid Foundation
24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
