We all know that prayer keeps us focused, strong, courageous, and able to handle problems with much more ease and grace. However, we cannot do anything alone, and more strength comes as others pray for us. As I faced another scare this past week, I realized the power of prayer. Kelly, my oldest brother, was rushed by ambulance to the hospital because of major flu symptoms, and his kidneys were shutting down due to severe dehydration. It didn’t sound good from my Mom, so I packed my things as fast as I could, and headed to the hospital in South Dakota. Before I left, I sent out a special prayer request to several key friends of mine. I have a group of friends that are my deep prayer friends, and we pray for each other when faced with difficult life situations. My brother is doing much better, and to know that I have a group that prays with me in difficult times, creates a beautiful bond. We are a circle of prayer holding each others hands to unite, to support, to help, and to comfort each other in times of great need.
Daily prayer is like breathing and loving. If I don’t do it, I feel… Weak. Tense. Anxious. Worried, Stressed, Resentful and get wrapped up in things of this world. We all have lapses even with daily prayer, and we are human…we make mistakes, we say things we shouldn’t, we hang onto things instead of letting go, and we lash out when the walls of resentment still stand like a high tower. Prayer has its own timeline, and cannot be bought or sold. There is a time to wait, a time to move, a time to let go, and a time to heal. Life is challenge, meet it.
Mother Tereasa: Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is a beauty, admire it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is life, fight for it!
Lisa, Thank you for helping us refocus on wonderful gift of prayer and our Heavenly Father’s loving care.
Yes, it is a gift that we all have, and I appreciate your kind words of grace and love.
That was one of the most brilliant, thought-provoking passages that I’ve read in a really long time. I certainly hope that your daily prayer is helping you get through the struggles that you face. I guarantee you that everyone else’s prayers will do the same. I really, really enjoyed Mother Teresa’s passage as well. It really makes you think about your life and how you handle it on a daily basis. Thank you so very much for your thoughts!!
