The Key to Life…singing a new song.  I recently witnessed this new song from my youngest son, Jared…   He came home all excited because he didn’t have to put much effort into his final speech, and landed an awesome grade.  His job was to pick a song, analyze it, and then tell his class the meaning of it.  He caught my attention, and I couldn’t wait for him to tell me his song selection, and why he had chosen it.   My kids like to listen to rap, and being from a different generation, I thought it would be a song that I wouldn’t like.  Quite the opposite.  He selected a song called See You Again from Wiz Khalifa, and it was posted on You Tube on April 6th, 2015 and has 484,920,024 views!  A fairly new song that has created that many views in such a short amount of time—I couldn’t wait to listen to it.  My son told me he picked this song because it was a tribute to Paul Walker from the Fast and the Furious, and how the song is about heaven and family.  Paul recently died in a car accident as most people know.   Here’s a little bit of the song…it’s a melody mix that includes a soft gentle piano with rap in between.

“It’s been a long day without you my friend, and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.  We’ve come a long way from where we began, and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.   How can we not talk about family when families all that we’ve got?  Everything I do you are standing by my side, and now you’ll be with me for the last ride.  Let the light guide your way, hold every memory as you go, and every road you take, will always lead you home.”  After I listened to the song it brought on a lot of emotion, and I understood why there were so many views.  The lyrics were written specific to the show, the actors, and the bond they had between them.  The song was written for a specific purpose in mind–in loving memory of Paul.  I went downstairs to talk to my son, and told him that was the key to life…when he does something with meaning and purpose then things will become much easier, more rewarding, and it will carry him through anything.

I’m sharing this with you for the simple reason to create a new song in your life.  Do you ever wonder how inspiration and a message can come when you’re willing to open your ears to hear a new song?

Psalm 105:2  “Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!”
