Today the weather is extreme…30-40 below with the wind chills.  One cannot survive long in the elements of the cold.  We all have life situations that we wonder how we will survive, and get through them.  We also ask why do they happen?  Are we being punished for something, or does destruction need to come in order for growth and new life to emerge?  By new life I mean change.   If we look to the stories of Moses and Noah, great destruction came so love and goodness would prevail.  When extreme situations are more than you think you can take, and you respond with frustration and anger, you will probably be given more extreme situations…   If we look to challenges and extreme situations as a lesson, and for something better to come, then we have changed and grown.  If we are selfish, fight, complain, and get frustrated then change has a hard time coming to the surface.  Sometimes we have to be broken before we view life differently.  Being broken comes when the EXTREME events happen, and how we respond to them.  Do we hope for something better, or fight the event?  Learn and grow from your tornadoes, and remember after the destruction, new life emerges.   Two of my favorite quotes and song from Matthew West–Strong Enough.

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass.  It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

There are no mistakes, no coincidences.  ALL events are blessings given to us to learn from.  Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
